Win a Wildcard stand at the Frankfurt Book Fair

For the third year in a row, the Frankfurter Buchmesse is awarding its Wildcard, in which a publisher is asked to provide convincing answers to three questions regarding its exhibition concept to win the grand prize — an 8-sq/m stand at the world’s largest fair for content.

In addition to traditional publishers, all producers of creative content — illustrators, game developers, corporate publishers, vloggers, bloggers, photographers and many others — are encouraged to participate. For last year’s Wildcard, the organisers received 140 applications from 30 countries. They included, among others, self-marketing author collectives, recipe app developers and providers of digital media for young people.

To participate in the Wildcard all participants must answer three questions:

1. Why does the fair need you as a new exhibitor?

2. How would you publicise your participation in advance of the fair?

3. How would your booth stand out?

The winner will be chosen by a jury of the Frankfurt Book Fair and will be notified via email in June 2017. Following this notification, the Frankfurter Buchmesse will send the winner all relevant documents for participation in the fair. The award is non-transferable.

In 2006, Germany’s Institute for Digital Learning won the Wildcard. “The Wildcard was a great opportunity to call attention to our multimedia textbook (mBook). Moreover, with the ‘Edu Couch’ we were able to create a space for the topic of digital education, helping inspire new ideas,” said Benjamin Heinz, CMO of the Institut für digitales Lernen (Institute for Digital Learning).

The last date to register and submit applications is 31 May 2017. For details, visit book-fair.com/wildcard.
