More paper price increases flagged up

A raft of new paper price increases are set to be rolled out in the next few weeks by global paper manufacturers who are continuing to battle rising costs of their own.

SCA said it will increase the prices on white and brown kraftliner in Europe by 100 euros per tonne from 1 April 2022. “We see good demand in the market for kraftliner while supply is limited. Increased costs are evident and must be managed in order to safeguard stable supply of sustainable kraftliner,” said SCA Containerboard vice-president of marketing and sales Mikael Frölander.

Meanwhile, EUWID Pulp and Paper has reported that Burgo is implementing a new increase of 15% or more from 1 April 2022. This will apply to all markets and for all graphic paper grades.

Leipa, meanwhile, has adjusted its prior price increase announcements for its graphic papers from 100 euros per tonne to 180 euros per tonne for all confirmed orders from 1 April 2022, according to EUWID Pulp and Paper. The pricing will continue to be adjusted on a monthly basis, if necessary, Leipa added.

Finally, the publication also reported that Iggesund has told its customers it will implement a price increase of 120 euros per tonne for all paperboard grades, effective for deliveries from 1 May 2022.

Printers and paper buyers are dealing with a further rash of increases as the energy crisis bites and Russia’s invasion of Ukraine causes jitters across world economies.
