LMAI’s brand owners’ conference on 12 March in Mumbai

The Label Manufacturers Association of India (LMAI) is set to host the second in the series of brand owners’ conference on 12 March 2019 in Mumbai. The first was held in New Delhi on 30 March 2018, where 100 delegates mostly label printers and the few sponsors attended the event.

LMAI’s first brand owners’ conference held on 30 March 2018 in New Delhi

The conference will be held at The Orchid, adjacent to the domestic airport in Mumbai, from 6.30pm onwards followed by cocktails and dinner.

Speakers who have confirmed to be part of the conference are: Suresh Gupta, former chairman, Huhtamaki-PPL; Somnath Chatterjee, general manager, procurement, Pernod Ricard India; Anil Choubey, head of packaging development, Patanjali Ayurveda; Ajay Bapat, associate director, packaging development, Emcure Pharmaceuticals; Vishwas Jangam, packaging development manager, Future Consumer Enterprises; Prabir Das, head - packaging tech services, Mylan Laboratories, Fazal Farooqui, deputy general manager, packaging development, Kraft Heinz Company. A special invite has been extended to Ainain Shahidi, director at SIES School of Packaging.

Brands like to articulate and develop packaging concepts for their products when it goes up on the shelf such that it delivers the brand promise. They also look for key points in it for the consumers so that they keep coming back for more. “In the overall packaging development, a label is also one of the key points,” said Kuldip Goel, president at LMAI. He added, “For example, brand owners are today using smart packaging where the use of NFC, RFID, conductive inks and other technologies are used that allow brands to connect with the consumers.”

This series of engagement with brand owners aims to understand the kind of capabilities which label printers should possess which will help the brands deliver decorative and innovative labels, provide brand security and enhance the brands' image as well.

According to the Goel, 90 delegates have already confirmed. “Few more seats are available but they will be allotted on a first-come-first-served basis. The conference is open to printer members, while non-member label printers are welcome to join the association and then attend the event.”
