Labelexpo Preview: Digital presses

Printed labels are mainly used in food, beverages, pharmaceuticals, cosmetic and other fields. The label printers now have to innovate more than they ever did. Braille, smart and tri-panel labels, are some of the technology and accessibility innovations. Flexo offers more flexibility in terms of one-pass production, reducing time to market. Can digital kit compete with the USPs of a traditional flexo?

Océ LabelStream 4000 series

Canon | Hall 4, Stall A05

Canon will premiere the Océ LabelStream 4000 series which will be displayed in a fully integrated single-pass hybrid label conversion line, producing tailored labels running at  75 m/min, with a selection of flexo stations, cold foiling, and semi-rotary die-cutting.

 

Domino K600i

Domino Digital Printing Solutions | Hall 9, Stall A60, B50

Domino Digital Printing Solutions will be demonstrating the capabilities of its K600i digital UV inkjet printer. The 445mm wide dual bar, high-speed K600i will be integrated with an ABG Omega SRI (slitter, rewinder and inspection unit) and will be printing 100% verified, high resolution, machine readable codes onto die-cut labels. The K600i is capable of printing at a speed of up to 150m per minute at 600x600dpi including fine detail. The Domino K600i dual bar digital UV inkjet printer is based on the same platform as used in the single bar K600i and the Domino N610i digital colour label press.

 

Tau portfolio

Durst | Hall 9, Stall C50

Durst will launch a new model in its Tau portfolio. The company did not disclose the details of the press, though the new kit will be running live alongside the updated Tau 330 RSC and Tau 330 RSC E UV inkjet single-pass presses. Also on the anvil is a new software portfolio.

 

Surepress L-6534 VW

Epson  | Hall 9, Stall A50

Epson will introduce its new high-speed industrial label printer, the Surepress L-6534 VW. The press uses PrecisionCore printheads arranged around a central cylinder, and prints at a speed of up to 50 metres per minute. Epson will also launch four new ColorWorks on-demand digital label printers.

HP Indigo Digital Pouch Factory

HP Indigo | Hall 5 Patio, Stall C200

HP Indigo, in collaboration with Karlville, will unveil a turnkey solution for digitally printed, flexible packaging - a one-day pouch production process optimised for the HP Indigo 20000 digital press printing. Besides, the focal point of the stand will be the HP Indigo 8000 digital press, the narrow-web press that prints at 262 ft (80m) per minute.

This will run inline with the ABG Fast Track die, demonstrating how to save money with analogue to HP Indigo conversion. The HP Indigo 6900 digital press, HP’s best-selling digital printing technology, will also be shown along with a host of applications including brand protection, digital embellishments, and VDP.

 

AccurioLabel 230

Konica Minolta | Hall 8, Stall C12, C19

Konica Minolta will give the first glimpse of its newly launched AccurioLabel 230, a new version of its digital toner press. From the outside, the new label press looks identical to its predecessor AccurioLabel 190. But the new four-colour AccurioLabel 230, KM says, comes with enhancements, including a 73% speed increase, improved productivity, an option for overprinting, no warm-up requirement, less waste, and more accurate print registration. Developed and manufactured in Europe with Danish firm Grafisk Maskinfabrik, the AccurioLabel 230 has been built on the KM’s AccurioPress engine technology and is targeted at small- and mid-range segments.

 

UJF-7151plus

Mimaki | Hall 8, Stall A40

Mimaki will highlight the UJF-7151plus direct-to-object UV flatbed printer, which uses the Greenguard Gold certified ink, LH-100 and LUS-120. Printing short-run packaging applications live at the show, visitors will see print quality achievable for rigid decals, packaging mock-ups and stickers.

 

MJP13LXV UV

Miyakoshi | Hall 8, Stall B31

Miyakoshi will unveil its new digital inkjet press, MJP13LXV UV. The six-colour 1,200dpi press can print at a speed of 50 m/min. It comes equipped with an inter-colour pinning system and LED curing with a nitrogen purging system which reduces odour and improves the curing process.

 

Jetsci Colornovo 

Monotech Systems | Hall 9, Stand C45

The Jetsci Colornovo, a digital label printer for short run, medium-runs, VDP and other special requirement, was launched during Labelexpo India 2018. The UV inkjet digital label production press’ 600x600 dpi native resolution deploys the Piezo DOD inkjet printhead technology and can print labels at a speed of up to 50m/min on upon a print width of up to 330mm.

The Jetsci Colornova operates on a ‘no-click’ model, which the manufacturer Monotech says, reduced SKU for brand owners and inventory for label printers also, it will increase productivity, provide higher flexibility and great value addition.

 

MVZ1000

Rigoli | Hall 4, Stall A14

Rigoli will introduce MVZ1000 wide-format digital printer inline with a Dolzan VFFS packaging machine to demonstrate on-demand print-to-packaging. The MVZ printer is powered by Memjet allowing to print in 1600dpi with 9- or 18-m/min speed on continuous web with width up to 1067mm.

 

Truepress Jet L350UV+

Screen | Hall 9, Stall B30

The digital print equipment specialist will display its Truepress Jet L350UV+ and the Truepress Jet L350UV+LM. Interestingly, visitors will be able to see the impact of Screen’s recently launched blue ink, used with the Truepress Jet L350UV+. Label producers can now quickly recreate even the most vivid tones in record time – a must when it comes to impressing big-brand clients. For those looking to automate their workflow, CERM, Hybrid and One Vision will be on hand to demonstrate how their respective software can be integrated with the Screen Equios workflow solution.

 

UPG 1A/B and Dumax

UP Group | Hall 11, Stall F21

UP Group will display its new UPG 1A/B and Dumax range of digital printing machines, which is powered by Memjet technology. Also on show will be the JDF 330 series flexo press, a shaftless flexo printing press which uses servo-control technology, with flexible inline modules.

 

Label Discover Package, CX 500 and PX3000

Xeikon | Hall 5, Stall C28

Xeikon will introduce its ‘Transform’ platform for printers to shift to digital printing. Transform (transform.xeikon.com) is up and running as a digital platform. At the show, there will be three Xeikon presses. The Label Discover Package, an entry-level system consisting of a Xeikon 3030 digital press and Dcoat digital converting line with varnish, semi-rotary die-cutting, and rewind. The CX500, which uses the company’s QB-toner designed specifically for food labels with a focus on upcoming regulations. The third press, the Xeikon PX3000, showcases Xeikon’s Panther UV inkjet technology, which is ideally suited for the health and beauty market.
