In a move that signals both expansion and technological investment, New Delhi-based Ess Kay Enterprises, a flexible packaging and label converter company, has acquired a flexographic printing press from China-based manufacturer Hontec Equipment — the Hontec 460 Flexicon.

The eight-colour flexographic machine features automated tension control, automated register control, quick-change print decks, and LED drying systems, which together are designed to improve print consistency, reduce downtime, and enable compatibility with various substrates such as BOPP, PET, and paper. The press is fully loaded and a CMYK + white with three pantone shades, cold foil, lamination, deram relam, die-cutting, etc.

The Hontec 460 Flexicon offers a substrate width of 150 to 450-mm and the machine’s speed is up to 200-m/min.
Aman Mittal who looks after the label division of Ess Kay Enterprises, said, “The decision to purchase the new press was driven by increasing demand for higher quality and faster turnaround in label and flexible packaging segments. The press is currently operational at our main facility and is expected to contribute to increased output and efficiency. It has already achieved 80% of our goals and we look forward to seeing what more can happen.”

“We are happy to install our first machine at the customer like Ess Kay. Converters are increasingly investing in automated, high-speed equipment to meet the evolving needs of FMCG, personal care, and pharmaceutical sectors. Flexographic technology is being adopted for its balance between cost efficiency, substrate versatility, and print quality, particularly in medium- to high-volume production,” said Sarfaraz Khan, CEO, Hontec India.

Shantanu Biswas, managing director, Hontec India, added, “The Hontec press supports short and long print runs. The machine is positioned to cater particularly well to high-mix, mid-volume jobs. This is a growing segment in the packaging industry due to changing consumer behaviour.”

The deal was sealed at Labelexpo Greater Noida in 2024 and the machine was delivered direct from exhibition to Ess Kay Enterprises, Delhi.

Hontec India has since sold five machines, of which three have been installed. Two have been sold to companies in Dubai. And few more pipeline orders plus repeat orders from existing customers.
Hontec India is a joint venture among Sarfaraz Khan, Shantanu Biswas and Shahid Khan. It acts as an exclusive distributor for India, Dubai and Bangladesh. “We are three professionals who have come together to bring new technologies into the country. Our aim is to make India benefit,” said Shahid Khan, sales and service director, Hontec India.

Mittal said his family relationship with Sarfaraz played a vital role in the purchase of the Hontec 460 Flexicon. “We knew that we could trust the machine. It is also a matter of great importance to us, that if the machine ever breaks down or we are in some trouble, service is provided instantly. This really helps build trust.”

Ess Kay Enterprises production time has since reduced and the company is content with the power saving that the addition of the machine has caused due to very high-quality LED / UV systems from SUV brand.
