California-based EFI, a provider of digital printing innovations, announced that Fuji Xerox is launching two new EFI Fiery digital front end (DFE) servers for its new Versant 80 digital press. These include the Fuji Xerox EX 80 print server and the Fuji Xerox EX-i 80 print server.

“High image quality has always been one of the most important criteria that customers use to evaluate a printing solution. The Fuji Xerox Versant 80 Press equipped with the new Fiery powered print servers offers enhanced representation of ultra-smooth gradients, highlights, and shadows realised with 10-bit rendering tone correction,” said Yamazaki Toru, general manager, production go-to-market of Fuji Xerox.

“The EX-i and EX 80 print servers have powerful features to enable complex and impactful imaging. Extensive EFI ColorWise colour management tools make it possible to produce consistently brilliant output,” he added.

The new servers are expected to further add on to the advanced imaging features of the Fiery FS100 Pro, the first DFE to earn a  hundred percent perfect pass label from the VIGC PDF RIP Audit.

The Fuji Xerox EX and EX-i 80 print servers feature Fiery Ultra Smooth Gradients, which utilises a 10-bit, 1,200dpi processing technology at the digital front end. First seen in the two new Fiery servers driving the Fuji Xerox Versant 2100 Press, Fiery Ultra Smooth Gradients goes beyond traditional 8-bit rendering and is expected to eliminate stair stepped gradient shades common in digital printing of vector images.

“We are pleased to be working with Fuji Xerox to add value to this exciting new press offering for the Asia Pacific market,” said John Henze, vice president of marketing of EFI Fiery.

“These new servers utilise the latest Fiery platform, FS150 Pro, offering faster processing, unsurpassed, award-winning quality and easier-to-use, automated workflows,” concluded Henze.
