By 22 Jul 2019

At Labelexpo Europe 2019, Max Specialty Films will introduce new solutions that are driven by innovation. K Manohar, chief technology officer, Max Speciality Films, said, “We are confident that it will have a far-reaching impact on various packaging applications. For instance, we are introducing label films with excellent optical properties with gloss in range from 90-95.”

Max’s new BOPP manufacturing line is expected to catalyse the growth of specialty films for the company

In addition, the company will exhibit ultra-high film clarity for thicker transparent label films. “We are also showcasing in-line coated BOPP label films for superior adhesive and print receptivity for UV dlexo. And last but not the least, we will be presenting WAL films for high speed bottling applications,” Manohar added.

Among the range of innovative products and services on offer, Manohar explained about PSL & IML large product portfolio, which is now equipped with higher thickness and excellent flatness. “We have developed in-house novel coatings, which are far superior when it comes to print and adhesive receptiveness,” he said.

Other additions to its IML portfolio are transparent, cavitated, and solid white. It comes with outstanding gloss for distinctive labels, offers best web flatness for high-speed printing and web handling; its clean formulation provides outstanding ink anchorage; and it lends to excellent die-cutting advantages.

Manohar said this year’s show is very important for the company as it is confident that it will bring in solutions that will empower the whole industry to look towards sustainable solutions in new light. “We would want to exhibit our resolve and efforts taken in the direction of providing sustainable and future-ready packaging solutions,” he said.

He added that the company is also excited to take home new trends and technologies that are promising to disrupt the label industry with sustainable solutions. “We would be very interested to learn from the global industry so that we can continue to walk the talk of sustainability in the times to come,” he added.

Max’s new BOPP manufacturing line is expected to catalyse the growth of specialty films for the company. “The advanced design of our new state–of-the-art BOPP line commissioned last year will enable us to delve deeper into labels and barrier films as important market segments,” Manohar said.

Currently, the new investment enables the company to produce 12- to 85-micron films to cater to in-mould labelling and pressure sensitive labelling segments. This line has almost doubled the company’s production capacity from 46.35-kilo tonnes per annum to 80.85 KTA, which has resulted in better economics for the company. So we are poised to spearhead the domestic and global markets and innovation is leading us to achieve this milestone.
