He also attributed Kodak’s success at Drupa 2012 to the emerging markets stating that they have “contributed to more than 65% of Kodak’s sales”.

“India is a priority, has always been because Kodak has been present in the Indian market for many years. India has a young population, its growing with great potential for the education sector,” he said.

Among other things Oviedo said that he hopes to bring some of the best practices to India. “For India, American market is an example.” He continued, “It will cover various spectrums in terms of sharing technologies and training, it can be partnerships. I think for India, know-how sharing would be an appropriate strategy.”

Accompanying Oviedo was Lois Lebegue, the managing director for Asia Pacific Region at Eastman Kodak Company. Lebegue, who is based in Shanghai, China said that India has lessons to learn from its neighbour.

“The Indian print industry needs to continually embrace the vision of the full eco-system, not just focus on little silos of printing but think of integrated eco-system and work with partners that have the capacity to offer solutions from A-Z. The second is educating the employees; continue to invest in the human resources,” he said.
