Wan-Ifra India 2016 Conference begins today in Kolkata

The wait is over. As you read this, the who’s who of the Indian newspaper industry is in Kolkata deliberating on the future course of action, as the Wan-Ifra India 2016 Conference, the 24th annual conference in South Asia, begins in Kolkata.

This year, the two-day, fully sold-out event is seeing an attendance of 400 delegates from 94 organisations around the world. The event features three parallel conferences – the World Printers Forum, the Newsroom Summit and the Crossmedia Advertising Summit.  Total 41 speakers will share case studies, insights and experiences.

Other important events in the conference includes the presentation of the first South Asian Digital Media 2016 Awards, Asian Best in Print  2016 Awards and the felicitation of the winners of International Newspaper Colour Quality Club (INCQC) 2016-18 competition.

This year, the conference is discussing the business and technology challenges, paving a way into the future of the news publishing industry in the region. The conference draws much significance in the backdrop of the digital media revolution facing the South Asian news publishing industry in one hand and the challenge of managing the growth of print media business on the other hand.
