Color 1000 has been pitched by Xerox India  for the production of applications like photo albums, flyers, newsletters, brochures and variable data documents. It will compete with the HP Indigo and Kodak Nexpress in the high-end digital segment.

V Sivaraj, proprietor of Sun Xerox added: “The equipment has completed our portfolio of providing colour print solutions to our customers. Within a short span of 45 days, our print volume per month has almost doubled. We also did a remarkable job of printing of 1,20,000 sheets of prints for a government project in a record time of three days. This was possible with the continuous printing on the machine; stopping only for reloading paper and toner. We have now started printing photo album on non tearable as well as coated media.”

Sun Xerox was started by Sivaraj in 1997, as a small commercial monocolour copying and printing shop with the installation of Xerox 5328 press. The company then ventured into digital colour printing with Xerox DC12 in 2005 and subsequently, added Xerox DC250 and Xerox DC5252 digital presses to its portfolio. It was in June 2011 that Sun Xerox decided to install a Color 1000 press.

Pankaj Kalra, head, graphic communications business, Xerox India, said: “There have been over a dozen installations of the Xerox 1000 Color press in early 2011."
