Shabbir Muchhala, the managing director of Silverpoint Press informed PrintWeek that the press based in Mahape in Navi Mumbai has commenced operations of its digital and sheetfed facility.

He said, "The decision to commence operations was done after receiving all permissions and following the Covid-19 norms. We have taken this step keeping in mind the interest of all."

Muchhala added, "Right from ensuring physical distancing norms to sanitisation, all steps are being diligently undertaken to ensure the well being of the workers in the plant."

Since March, the press was shutdown as per the lockdown rules which stated all non-essential businesses should remain closed. While Silverpoint complied with the government ruling, the team planned for a post-lockdown future whereby the taskforce can operate in a fully compliant manner with physical distancing advice.

Saifee Makasarwala said, "New guidelines for Covid-secure workplaces have been issued and we are adhering to all of them. This includes sourcing the PPE needed – masks, gloves, visors, hand cleaner.”

Makasarwala said, "Silverpoint is keen to have a foolproof system of work that would comply with government guidelines." He said the workforce had been “very supportive - and that is 90% of the battle won”.

Thanks to the forward planning, Silverpoint Press is geared to deliver orders across regions right from digital short runs to high volume packaging requirements. Muchhala said, "In these testing times, we are keen to support a fraternity member's press to fulfill any requirements".

PrintWeek readers will recall that Silverpoint Press is fulfilling global orders through its portal printnation.in

Muchhala concluded, "Our facilities are geared to undertake turnkey assignments in-house. We emphasise that we are here to support our fraternity members and would be glad to offer our services for the same."
