This is the seventh Nilpeter FB kit for the label printing company and third in its Guwahati plant.

The company has label production plants in Sonipat, Haryana; Guwahati, Assam and Vapi, Maharashtra.

It expanded its geographical presence to Guwahati around six years ago to serve the customers faster and better. The Guwahati plant contributes 35% of the company’s total business. With the new installation, it is expecting 40% additional growth.

Harish Gupta of Sai Com Codes Flexoprint, said, “We invested in the machine to meet our rising demands. Hopefully more machines will come soon. We are expanding our production capacity to meet the increasing demand. We are also making ourselves future-ready. Our idea is to be able to print any label at any of our production facilities and be as close to our customers as possible.”

Gupta said, the new Nilpeter is an 11-colour printing press with option of doing three colours of rotary screen printing apart from other value additions like cold-foiling, etc. The machine has a special attachment to produce multi-layer labels as well.

Regarding its association with Nilpeter, Gupta said, “It is good to have big machines, or all machines from a single manufacturer. The dealing is easy, and our workforce is used to the machine. They know how to run it, who to contact for troubleshooting, how to repair it and others.”

He added, “The seventh purchase from the same manufacturer shows the strength of the machine. Our first Nilpeter FB is almost 15 years old now and still runs as new.”

Gupta said the company needed the machine for backup as well. “Being a multi-locational company, we are working on a centralised command. It will be incorporated soon. We are also working towards expanding our geographical presence,” he added.

Manish Kapoor of Nilpeter India said, “Sai Com Codes started its journey with Nilpeter in 2007- 2008 and in a span of 15 years, it has become our biggest customer in India.”

He added, “We are the only overseas manufacturer who has a production unit in India. This local manufacturing gives us an edge to serve our customers better. Nilpeter FB line presses are manufactured exclusively in India for the global market. This is indeed a proud achievement for us at Nilpeter India. With over 150 Nilpeter presses running in the region, press downtime is a major concern in today’s competitive market. Being a local, we can provide parts and services in hours, not in days.”

Gupta said the company is currently running at around 80% capacity compared to the pre-Covid days. “Uncertainty is the major concern for the moment, as nobody is willing to give projections. In this scenario, how can a label printer invest further? Two years of the pandemic, and now, inflation and fluctuation in prices of raw materials are the pain points for the industry. We are hoping for things to improve in the coming year. We have invested now having faith in the saying that when going gets tough, the tough needs to get going,” he concluded.
