Shilpa Anchawale of Fujifilm Sericol highlighted that the company is not only delivering cutting-edge printing solutions but also leading the charge in sustainability, with technologies designed to reduce environmental impact while enhancing print quality and efficiency.
“Behind every smile, there’s a story — and at Fujifilm, we’re committed to creating more smiles through our innovative products and sustainable practices," Anchawale said. This philosophy underpins the company’s approach to product development, where sustainability is integrated at every stage of the product lifecycle, from raw material sourcing to end-of-life disposal.
Fujifilm’s sustainability initiatives go beyond offering eco-friendly products. The company has embraced a holistic approach, addressing the entire supply chain to ensure that their innovations provide real solutions to societal and environmental challenges. This commitment is evident in their active shift from traditional linear packaging models to circular packaging systems, emphasising recycling and resource efficiency.
The printing industry is undergoing a revolution, and Fujifilm Sericol is at the forefront. Building on a foundation of past technologies, the company continues to innovate with solutions that offer superior performance and sustainability.
Key developments include:
Toluene-free and Ketone-free inks: Recognising the industry’s shift away from harmful solvents, Fujifilm has introduced a portfolio of eco-friendly inks that are free from toluene and ketones, without compromising on vibrancy and quality.
UV LED and aqueous inks: Designed for the narrow web and flexographic industries, these inks offer energy savings, reduced emissions, and brilliant colours, thanks to Fujifilm’s advanced micro-dispersion technology.
Water-washable flexo plates: Fujifilm's new flexo plates eliminate the need for solvent-based processing. Utilising innovative rubber-based components, these plates are faster to produce, more durable, and significantly more environmentally friendly.
As the industry embraces digital printing, Fujifilm Sericol is setting new benchmarks with its patented RNG dispersion technology. This aqueous dispersion technology delivers ultra-fine pigments encapsulated in a cross-linked polymer structure, ensuring stable, clog-free printing with a wide colour gamut — covering nearly the entire Pantone spectrum.
This technology powers Fujifilm’s new digital printing solutions, including:
Jet Press 790: A digital press for flexible packaging applications, offering high productivity, water-based inks, and ultra-high print quality. It delivers gravure-like depth while being an eco-friendly alternative, especially suited for short-run jobs.
Jet Press 750: Designed for commercial printing, this system extends the benefits of digital printing with modified dispersions tailored for the sector.
Fujifilm’s innovations are already making an impact in markets around the world, with hybrid solutions combining conventional and digital technologies now being adopted in India as well. The company's vision is clear: to continue leading with technologies that marry sustainability with performance.
Anchawale concluded, "At Fujifilm, we are committed to bringing more smiles by delivering innovative and sustainable solutions — and this journey of innovation will continue, powered by our dedication to creating a better, greener future for the printing industry."
