Kerala: 584 Malayalam books released simultaneously to create record

Kerala printers under the coordination of S Saji, past president of Kerala Master Printers Association (KMPA) created a world record (Incredible book of records) by releasing 584 new titles simultaneously.

The record was created to mark the celebration of the 62nd birth anniversary of Kerala at ‘Amma Malayalam’ a literary festival at Kollam.

“With the aim to promote Malayalam literature and book reading among the younger generation, the Lions Club International organised this literary festival,” said Saji.

The programme which was held at the Kollam Public Library Hall was attended by many prominent personalities from the field of arts, culture and literature.

“As printers are the bridge between the writer and the reader, we (KMPA) was invited to the programme by the Lions Club. Our president R Gopakumar, coordinator O Venugopal, secretary Biju Jose, former and former treasurer Yeldho K George attended the programme on our association's behalf,” said Rajesh G, former secretary of KMPA who also attended the event.

Speaking at the function Venugopal highlighted the importance of printing fraternity in the development of literature around the world while Gopakumar spoke to the print media and channels about the importance of this event.
