Kamal Chopra named honorary professor by BIGC, China

In recognition of his services towards the printing industry, especially international print education, the Beijing Institute of Graphic Communication, China awarded the title of Honorary Professor Kamal Chopra once again. The title is for three years starting 21 April 2019. Chopra had received the same title in 2016 as well.

The title was conferred on 10 April 2019 at Dongguan, China Prof Luo Xueke, vice-chancellor of BIGC.

Xueke said, “India is in its prime of overall development. Indian people are friendly as well as warm-hearted. Indian higher education and science are advancing fast and Indian printing industry is on the rapid increase in demand. All these lay sound foundation for further cooperation.”

He added that Chopra, an internationally influential and renowned printer, has been associated with the university for over 10 years. “He has also actively promoted and propelled the bilateral development in printing industry. In view of the above, BIGC decided to award Chopra the Honorary Professor of BIGC once again,” he added.

A qualified printer and a gold medallist in printing technology, Chopra has many laurels to his credit, including the award from the President of India and the Global Print Leadership Award at Chicago USA by NPES.

One of his works, the unique 13-page calendar offering a complete history of printing that goes back to over 100,000 years, found place in the Printing History Museum in Beijing, China.

He was also felicitated at Birmingham (UK) by the BUMPSA for his achievements in the printing industry.
