HP has launched the Indigo 6K+ digital press, an upgrade to its widely used Indigo 6K, of which over 2,300 units are installed worldwide.

The 6K+ introduces a SmartControlSystem, enhanced automation, and AI-powered tools to improve uptime, diagnostics, and production efficiency, addressing the needs of converters facing complex workflows and labour constraints.

HP informed that the press will be available globally by the end of July 2025.

The press builds on the Indigo 6K’s reputation for quality and versatility, offering a platform designed for high-mix, short-run print jobs. It supports a wide range of substrates, from pressure-sensitive labels to flexible packaging and folding cartons, with seven ink stations and specialty inks, including Silver ElectroInk and fade-resistant options, covering 97% of the colour gamut.

The 6K+ enables converters to handle complex applications, such as smart labels with brand protection features, helping them expand into new markets. Its automation tools, including HP PrintOS Suite and Automatic Alert Agent 2.0, provide real-time insights, streamline setup, and optimise colour management, reducing waste and downtime.

Noam Zilbershtain, vice-president and general manager of HP Indigo, said, “As we advance HP Indigo’s vision of Nonstop Digital Printing, we are proud to introduce the new HP Indigo 6K+ Digital Press, featuring the groundbreaking SmartControlSystem for enhanced robustness and nonstop production. This press is designed to help converters confidently say ‘yes’ to any label job today and in the future.” Early adopters echo this sentiment.

The 6K+ and SmartControlSystem are running at two beta customers' sites, Summit Labels and Geostick, and have achieved success in terms of productivity increases, greater image stability, along with streamlined maintenance and reduced downtime.

HP will showcase the 6K+ at Labelexpo Europe 2025 in Barcelona, alongside its Indigo V12 press, at booths E25 and D21 in Hall 5.
