Nitin Goyal, director at Gopsons, noted improvement in quality, with sharper, cleaner cuts and consistent book sizes

According to Nitin Goyal, the director at Gopsons Printers, the Indian printing industry is witnessing a fundamental shift. "Large runs of 10,000+ are being replaced by 100–500 copy print jobs. Clients want course-specific, syllabus-specific books in smaller batches." Goyal added, "Short-run is no longer a niche—it’s the new standard. And if you want to succeed in this space, you need machines that can scale down intelligently."

Gopsons, traditionally known for high-volume security printing—examination materials, ATM rolls, wristbands — has been witnessing growing demand for short-run educational and institutional books. But there was a bottleneck: trimming.

Goyal said, "Earlier we were using guillotines to cut answer books and short-run titles. It was slow, labour-intensive, and inconsistent." He added, "We needed something smarter, more streamlined." That's how the Trimit 30C, a semi-automated three-knife trimmer, was added to the raft of machines at Gopsons. The Trimit reduced manual effort, improved trim consistency, sped up turnaround times, and lowered wastage. This machine ensures precise and repeatable book dimensions, which is important for professional presentation and sustainability.

Goyal noted a significant improvement in quality, with sharper, cleaner cuts and consistent book sizes. The Trimit 30C balances affordability and automation, making it suitable for printers moving into short-run workflows. Bindwel also offers the Trimit 30C-SRT, a fully automatic version for higher automation.

Gopsons chose Bindwel due to their reliable machines and accessible service support, as they are made in India.

This was not a one-off purchase. Gopsons also added a six-clamp Bindwel perfect binder to further enhance their short-run line. Goyal said, "The perfect binder is user-friendly. It doesn’t need highly skilled operators, which helps with faster onboarding and quick turnarounds."

Goyal praised Bindwel’s after-sales support, highlighting their quick and knowledgeable engineers. "The Bindwel engineers are quick, knowledgeable, and hands-on. Any issue—big or small—they respond the same day. That’s rare in our industry," he signed off.
