The one-day seminar saw experts from Adobe and Colourmechanics provide insights into and solutions for several common colour management issues that a printer or designer faces. The participants also had the opportunity to scrutinise several print proofs produced using paper and films. “The idea was not just to impart theoretical knowledge about colour management but also organise a dialogue with the participants. For a designer or printer, print speaks with more clarity than words. So having several printed samples was important,” said Jacob George of Press Ideas.

At the seminar, colour management experts explained how to match the proof with the final printed sheet, produce the same colour each time the same job is run, etc. Three experts from Adobe shared how Adobe Cloud can be effectively utilised in their day to day operations.

Calling it an investment for the industry, he added, “Nowadays, print buyers have higher expectations when it comes to quality and delivery. There is a strong need to adapt colours management solutions to match the print buyer’s expectations. Thus, for the overall growth of the industry, it is important to create a platform where acquiring knowledge about quality management is easier. Decoding Colors is such an initiative.”

The organisers also confirmed that the next Decoding Colors will be held in Mumbai on 8 February. “After the metro cities, we plan to take the initiative to Tier B cities. However, we are yet to finalise a concrete structure of the whole plan,” George concluded.
