Printers salute Sachin Tendulkar on his century of centuries

Master blaster Sachin Tendulkar has achieved the unthinkable, something that may never get repeated in the history of cricket.

During his career span of 20 years Tendulkar has given India a lot of joyous moments to celebrate. However, the last one year has been the most testing for him and the most agonising for the country as a whole.

Tendulkar achieved the enormous feat of 'a century of centuries' after he had gone almost 34 innings without reaching that magical three figure.

But, finally Tendulkar did the unthinkable and provided joy to millions of cricket fans across the globe. On this special occasion; PrintWeek India asked a group of printers who have closely followed Tendulkar's game as to what would be their message to the great batsman.

Suhas Kulkarini from Printwell, Aurangabad said, “Don’t listen to all those experts. Enjoy the game and keep us happy till you call it a day.” Dev Nair from Kohinoor Printers said, “Congrats and please don’t retire. May you play for as long as you can for all those people who will watch cricket only till you play and there are trillions of them.”

The next question that was on what they could learn from Sachin. Anil Shah of Spectrum Scan says, “He plays for Bharat and not for a part of India.” Prakash Canser from National Print Press was of the view that the greatest value to learn from Sachin is that talent without discipline is useless.

Printers also shared their favourite Sachin innings. Pramod Parulkar from Jasmine Art Printers, Dev Nair and Prakash Canser all agree to the desert storm innings played by Tendulkar in Sharjah as their favourite.

Not all printers are Sachin fans. Among printers there are also those who are his strongest critics. Among them are Anil Shah and Uday Dhote. Anil believes that Sachin only remembers god when he succeeds, but when he makes less than 50 he immediately removes his helmet and walks off. Uday Dhote from Dhote Offset says, “Sachin ab bas kar.”

Finally, we asked all the printers on what they would like to print to honour Tendulkar's achievements. This is what they had to say:

Canser: “One print job I want to print in honour of Sachin’s achievement is a book called ‘Rise & Rise & Rise of Sachin Tendulkar’.”

Kulkarini: “A typical photo of Sachin praying to god looking skywards after scoring a century in huge poster size.”

Shah: “Yes, his zero run score card.”

Dhote: “Farewell party invitation.”

Parulkar: “Biography of Sachin Tendulkar.”

Nair: “Sachin batting in front of 100 stumps but still playing a shot and not getting bowled.”

For us at PrintWeek India, it was a double whammy since we celebrated our 50th issue in the same month that Sachin Tendulkar achieved this amazing feat. We feel that the biggest value that we can learn from Tendulkar is perseverance to be better with every issue that we produce.

PrintWeek India team salutes the master.
