Gallus increases its sales by 8% in 2014

Since the financial and economic crisis, there has been a trend towards more short-notice demand for label and folding carton printing machinery.

This helped the Gallus Group put in a strong performance in the second half of 2014, achieving record sales in the final quarter with a positive impact on earnings.

In 2014, the company earned Swiss franc 202 million while the number was Swiss franc 187 million in 2013.

Slowing growth in important emerging markets such as Brazil and China and the slump in demand caused by the political crises in parts of Eastern Europe and the Middle East were compensated for by strong sales in the core European countries.

Meanwhile, in India, Gallus is growing at approximately 20% year-on-year. “We have installed over 30 presses in last three years, with a total installed base of over 90 currently,” said Samir Patkar, managing director, Gallus India.

In the current year, Gallus India expects to reach the 100-press mark in the country.

“We have more than 65 Gallus EM 280 presses installed in India and before the end of March 2015 we shall install more than 10 Gallus ECS 340 presses. We have been able to establish the Gallus ECS 340, a press built on technical core granite as a key press, establishing superior print quality, low waste, and highest efficiency in the segment and lowest carbon footprint with focus on energy conservation and sustainability,” Patkar added.

Gallus India also has presses installed with key large packaging converters like Essel Propack, ITC Packaging and Boards, Huhtamaki, Paper Products, Positive Packaging Group, Uflex Group and Signode India.

In September 2014, Gallus unveiled the Gallus DCS 340 to the global public. This is a digital label printing machine with a multi-colour inkjet module, developed in collaboration with Heidelberger and its inkjet technology partner Fujifilm. This new solution for small production runs and versioning label and packaging products will complement the existing range of machinery. It will be available as a complete system comprising a digital label printing machine with specially adapted consumables (including inks) as well as workflow solutions and service packages. The product will be launched in September 2015 at Labelexpo Europe in Brussels.
