Last year, Parksons Graphics shared the Reports and Accounts Printer of the Year Award with CDC Printers. This time around they have done better to pip other contestants, sending in four quality sets of annual reports printed for JK Cement, J&K Bank, Hindustan National Glass & Industries, and Strides Arcolabs.

Annual reports are very important to all companies, because it holds the promise of the future and where the companies hope to be. The written word and the theme of the report are crucial.

Parksons used 250gsm APP art card, 170gsm APP gloss art paper, 128gsm Emote Bright White, and 105gsm Karess Imprint White for the JK Cement – Deluxe Annual Report. The report was printed on the Heidelberg CD74 and CD102 presses, using shimmer offset with Colourlogic software. Finishing was provided using lasercut.

According to Parksons, the client brief was, “striking colour with typography, soft bound cover, and laser-cut letters”. The end-paper was heated with shimmer offset by using Colorlogic software. While the annual report speaks about facts and figures, Parksons gave this importance by highlighting the typography illustrations and striking colours instead of glossy pictures.

For the J&K Bank annual report, which Parksons has been producing for the last five years, they did a blind embossing and raised printing on the cover with abrasive UV, pasting a small booklet on the inner cover. This year’s design did not focus on visuals but on the type, “which made it more challenging,” according to Parksons. “With every year, it’s becoming more challenging to surpass the expectation of the client,” the company says.

For the Hindustan National Glass Industries’ annual report it used thermography on the cover while Strides Arcolab’s annual report had the inner pages gathered, section-sewn, cover overdrawn and inserted into a seal king bag.

Parksons have, by their print work, given the written words and the theme the treatment, that according to one judge, “the print jobs has not only turned the annual reports into a marketing piece, but also one that captures the corporate feel, look and style”.
