They will be accepting entries for the awards till the 15 July 2012. The awards ceremony is scheduled to be held in Chennai later this year.

Sunil Mathew, the general manager of Technotrans India said, "The idea is to motivate printers to implement more environmental-friendly business practices. Whether it is reducing the alcohol in the dampening solution or reducing the wastage in the press room, every green thought you put into your workflow has a big impact on reducing the carbon footprint,"

The entries will be judged by a team of experts who will give all the entries a ‘Green Print Quotient’ (GPQ) depending on the measure adopted by them to reduce their carbon footprint. The printers with the highest Green Print Quotient will be declared as Technotrans Green Printer 2012. The winner will receive Rs 1,00,000 and a Technotrans Green Printer trophy.

Last year’s Green Printer Award was won by The Times of India’s Ahmedabad plant for a presentation that quantified their effort to make their production greener and save water, electricity and newsprint.
