“In 2025, we started looking for a high-speed machine that could work with the same workforce. Kapoor Imaging came up with the option of a Kodak CTP W-Speed model with a capacity of 66 plates per hour. We went for it because Kodak is a proven brand in thermal CTP technology,” Mani Gaba of OSR Scan said.

He said the Kodak Trendsetter stood out because of its proven thermal imaging technology, Square Spot imaging capability, and strong global reputation in the prepress industry. The W-Speed configuration, capable of producing around 66 plates per hour, was also a major advantage for meeting high-volume production demands.

“Another important factor was the machine’s ability to deliver extremely consistent plate quality with precise dot reproduction, which is essential for high-speed presses and long print runs. In addition, Kodak’s robust engineering, dependable performance, and compatibility with our existing workflow gave us confidence in its long-term reliability,” Gaba said, adding, “Considering these factors — speed, superior imaging quality, reliability, and seamless workflow integration — the Kodak Trendsetter emerged as the most suitable solution for our production requirements.”

OSR Scan was started by Mani Gaba in 2006 with a Scitex imagesetter and a Hell scanner. In 2013, he partnered with Sandeep Mukherjee and installed an Amsky CTP machine.

After approximately two years, the company added a Topaz CTP. The company further upgraded its setup with one Amsky CTP and one Topaz thermal CTP.

The Kodak Trendsetter W-Speed model offers a production capacity of up to 66 plates per hour, making it an ideal choice for high-volume prepress environments. With its Square Spot imaging technology and W-Speed capability, the system delivers exceptional plate quality, precise dot reproduction, and consistent imaging results. These features help maintain high print standards across long production runs.

“The combination of speed, reliability, and advanced imaging technology has enabled us to achieve excellent production efficiency while maintaining superior plate quality,” Gaba said.

He added, “We have successfully converted many of our clients who were earlier using brands like Heidelberg and Komori printing machines to our plate supply. The consistent quality of our plates and the service improvement have played a crucial role in this transition.”

Gaba said, today printers operating high-speed presses require dependable plate quality and prompt service support. “By maintaining reliable supply and consistent imaging results through systems like the Kodak Trendsetter, we can meet the demanding requirements of modern printing machines,” he said, adding, “Our focus remains on delivering stable plate performance, quick turnaround, and strong technical support, which has helped us build long-term relationships with customers using premium presses such as Heidelberg and Komori.”

According to Gaba, Kapoor Imaging has been a strong and reliable partner throughout its journey. “Their team has always been highly supportive in both plate supply and technical service. Their engineers are available round the clock, and in most cases, issues are resolved quickly, even through remote guidance over a phone call,” he said.
