"The demand for quality paper will continue to surge in the unforeseeable future"

While Neenah, founded in 1873, is one of the oldest  continuously running paper makers, Sona Papers represents some of the biggest global brands, and this partnership will further strengthen its position in the paper market.

Raju Suneja, director at Sona Papers, said, “The Neenah association will certainly give us an edge in the market. The company has pre-approved specifications for big brands in its portfolio, especially in the packaging and tag segment, which will enable the Indian industry.”

According to Sona, the present Covid-19 crisis notwithstanding, the use of paper and paper products in packaging has been rising steadily. “In India, where the market is more traditional than most western counterparts, it is expected that the demand for quality paper will continue to surge in the unforeseeable future as the potential is far from the saturation point,” said Suneja.

Citing numbers, Suneja tried to make a point. He said the packaging segment accounted for 51.58% of the global market in 2018 and is also expected to witness the fastest CAGR from 2019 to 2025. “Big brands and major brands are refusing plastic usage and are replacing plastics in their product packaging with paper. Fortunately, our association with mills like Arjowiggins and Neenah, has given us an edge to fill the gaps that the packaging and label industry has seen over the years.”

Sona is already an approved supplier to brands like H&M, Marks & Spencers, etc for their packaging solution.
