Sangli-based Sampada Group installs Odyssey

Aura Print Solutions has installed the Odyssey 840 at the Sampada Group, a seven year old family-owned business. The group's USP is of kraft paper. And that is how they began catering to corrugated and paper bag manufacturers in Maharashtra and nearby states.
 
Swapnil Ravindra Tapdiya, entered the family business as a director in 2015. Due to the challenging times because of the Covid-19 pandemic, which saw pulp and paper price spiralling, Sampada Group stepped in to enhance the quality of corrugated boxes. The focus was the quality quotient required by exporters. That's how the group ventured into box production with a 5-ply automatic corrugation plant and flexo printer with inline finishing and other ancillary machines.
 
Tapdiya said, “I decided to invest in equipment and solutions to fulfil the demand of the small and medium-size corrugated converters who have solutions for single and two-colours. These converters are not equipped to attend to merchant exporters with a short-run and quick turnaround for multi-colour. With the acquisition of the Odyssey 840, a single pass digital printer supported and serviced by Aura Print Solutions, I can claim to have total solutions in a city like Sangli. That is, total solutions right from procuring pulp, production of paper to conversion of a short quantity of hundreds to thousands of boxes under one roof.”

According to Natarajan Vaidyanathan, the managing director, Aura Print Solutions said, “Digital printing for corrugated sheets has become more of a necessity for corrugated box production . Short run, multi-color and direct print on corrugated board to avoid pasting of pre printed sheet on corrugated sheet has warranted the need for digital printing solution for small to industrial converters.”
 
Odyssey is a four-colour, economical and high-performance digital press for coated and uncoated boards. Various substrates like corrugated boards with white kraft, brown kraft and other uncoated stocks with a thickness upto 30 mm and substrate weight up to 15kgs can be printed with water-based dye ink. Aura claims to have a printing speed of 30m/min depending on the image and resolution.
