The renowned author is known for giving tangible form to the anguish of the marginalised through his words. He shared his joy upon receiving the honour, stating, "My literary works have received numerous awards over the years." However, the joy I feel upon receiving the Sahitya Akademi Award is impossible to describe in words."
The award, which comprises a cash prize of one lakh rupees, a copper plaque (Tamrapatra), and a shawl, also marks a significant achievement for Rajhans Prakashan.
