Quenby Transfers India has triumphed over competitions from previous winners Manipal Technologies, Pragati Offset and International Print-o-Pac to be crowned as PrintWeek India Company of the Year 2014, based on its financial performance over the last financial year and their samples, which impressed the jury with their quality and execution in textile printing. The company’s fixed asset has increased by 10.09%, while net current asset has increased by 138.29%, which was highest in the category. The overall net worth during this period also increased by 12.62% and fixed assets as a percentage of sales are also up by 0.70%, another yardstick where the company outperformed its competition. The company’s expenditure on staff also increased by 4.58%, the second highest in the category.

Quenby was incorporated at Leicestershire in the UK in 1993. Its India operations started in 2005 at Bengaluru, where it presently operates out of a 30,000sq/ft plant, which houses six lines automatic high-speed screen printing machines with modern digital dryers and 105 employees. The company specialises in producing photo-realistic heat transfer and information label for the garment industry, producing five-six million pieces mainly for the European market and catering to leading garment manufacturers in India, the UK, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Dubai, Cambodia, Egypt, China, Taiwan and Indonesia. Quenby’s financial success is an indicator of print’s evolution. It is no longer limited to ink on paper, and the possibilities are truly endless.

Green Printing Company of the Year

Repro India has been unanimously chosen by the special adjudicators as the Green Printer of the Year. This newly constituted category recognises the need for going green, with the primary motivator behind this being savings on energy costs, social pressure and sustainability goals.
Repro recycles their waste or disposes it off as per the ISO 14001:2000 environmental management system standards, under which they are certified since 2010. Repro India is also the first Indian company to have certifications from both the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) and Programme for Endorsement for Forest Certification (PEFC). Creative Graphics’ profit before tax has increased substantially by 301.67%, which was the highest in the category. Its return on capital employed and profit before tax as a percentage of sales also increased by 24.42% and 5.31% respectively, which were the highest in the category as well.

Shilp Gravures is India’s pioneer and undisputed leader in electro-mechanical engraving, with a substantial market share of the flexible packaging industry. The company approaches its work practices from the creative end and that is what distinguishes it from all the other gravure cylinder suppliers in the field.

Student of the Year

For the first time in six editions, we have a tie for Student of the Year. Pranav Nikam of Pune Vidhyarthi Griha’s College of Engineering and Technology and Sonal Karkhanis of SIES Graduate School of Technology, academically and based on project submissions, outmatched their competition only to find themselves on par with each other. Apart from their academic performances, both our winners were equally impressive in their extra-curricular activities.

Sonal was the event coordinator for the Technical Paper Presentation at Impressions 2014 and won the Technical Paper Presentation at Bharati Vidyapeeth College of Engineering’s Extemporia 2013.

Pranav was the general secretary of Circle of Printing Engineers for two years. He undertook a research project to study the influence of Rheological Parameters on Printability and to have a better understanding of the microstructure and interparticle attractions.
