By 29 Nov 2018

Kundli, Sonipat-based Replika Press won the first Award of the evening, Book Printer of the Year (Academic and Trade), during the 10th edition of the Awards held in Mumbai on 29 November 2018.

The five-time winner of the Post-Press Company of the Year Award, and last year’s winner in the same category, claims the Prism again, on the strength of its inimitable quality.

The Room on the Roof for Penguin Random House India is printed on Heidelberg (two-colour for text, SM 74 for jacket) on 65gsm Holmen creamy paper for text and 150gsm gloss art paper for jacket. The binding of the 129x198mm, 224-page book is section-sewn hardcase on 2.5mm board. The highlight of the book, with a run length of 20,050, is the post-press work — foiling on spine and velvet lamination, spot UV and embossing on jacket.

Circe for Bloomsbury UK, with run length of 2,000, is printed on 60gsm Stora creamy paper for text and 250gsm GIC art card for cover. The pre-press uses Screen Dainippon CTP, Kodak Prinergy workflow and EFI colour management software. The special features of the 153x234mm, 352-page paperback include full coverage of foiling and debossing. According to Replika, the job showcases the company’s ability to achieve intense foiling and debossing with full coverage on cover, making it a thing of beauty.

21 Lessons for the 21st Century for Penguin Random House UK is printed on 120gsm offset paper for text and 250gsm CIS art card. The post-press for the 134x216mm, 368-page book, with a run length of 150, involves matte lamination. The special feature of the book is the black images. According to Replika, the sample highlights its strength in maintaining the black strength in printing even in a short run, where illustrations are printed with consistency throughout.

Coltrane for Penguin Random House UK is printed on 60gsm Stora creamy paper for text while the case is printed on Seda cloth paper. The special feature of the 165x240mm, 128-page book is blue foiling and debossing.
