ABP wins Newspaper Printer of the Year

All the newspaper samples submitted by ABP are broad sheets of 346x533.4-mm cut-off length, printed on the Kruger-Cananda standard newsprint 40-gsm on Wifag-of 370s high-speed (84,000 copies/hour) double-width double-circumference newspaper web offset press.

For the French window in Anandabazar Patrika, in the press, an additional assembly was attached on top of the tower from where the print web was going to be printed. The position of the slitter was critical as the cutting would give the look of a perfect French window. A total of 3,00,000 copies were printed.

For the pseudo panorama on pages two and three of The Telegraph, in the press, one glue dispensing assembly was mounted at the spine area of the tower from where the front web was printed. This was to get the effect of a continuous panorama after turning the cover page. A total of 2,00,000 copies were printed.

For the double cover plus three- and four-colour flaps on Anandabazar Patrika, in the press, two special size web width reels were used in the main edition as well as paper with paper section of the newspaper.

For the centre spread blowup in a particular section of The Telegraph, it was conceptualised to create an impression of hidden content under the blowup portion of the centre page pair. In the press, special size 121.1-cm reels were used.
