Sona Papers is a five-decade-old company specialising in marketing and distribution of speciality grade creative fine papers in the Indian and Middle East Asian region.

Speaking to PrintWeek India, Raju Suneja, director for marketing at Sona Papers said, “We have enriched our portfolio and add few new innovative ranges in our existing range. We are happy with the response received from the visitors."

At the show, it is also promoting Magnani 1404 range of fine art paper for the artists. Magnani is a six-hundred-year-old company producing papers for the fine arts. It’s one of the oldest, if not the oldest mill in the world. The papers are available for both students and artist in 100% cotton and high alpha cellulose with few shade of colours in 50% cotton.

“We launched the Magnani 1404 range of paper at the Indian Art Fair, and the response has been super. What was exciting was the swatch book that we produced. When the graphic designer, who can now demonstrate his artistic skill, can paint on the paper in the swatch book, look at the result and order the paper,” Raghav Suneja, product manager for Magnani 1404 products at Sona Papers.

Generally, the artist would go to the stationery stores to buy the paper and if he did not like the result he would have to dump the paper. “It was a waste of money and material. The swatch eliminates this exercise,” says Raghav.

Sona has been catering to the commercial and packaging industry, as well as the graphic designer. With Magnani, we have entered into the realm of artistry, the other side a graphic designer can be. “Fine arts is a creative industry, and with Magnani, we are serving the same people but in a different way,” explained Raghav.

Magnani for Sona is going to be a B2C model. The paper will be available in the stationery shops in the form of pad or sheets, and also online.

The theme of Sona papers was to create an experience zone. The company displayed and decorated the stall with various range of creative papers. The idea was to invite visitors and give them an experience of touch and feel of the papers.
