PPOA felicitates 10 women printers on its 100th anniversary

The Poona Press Owners Association (PPOA), as part of its 100-year celebrations, organised a felicitation programme on its foundation day on 13 July 2019 at Hotel President, Pune. The association felicitated 10 successful women printers with Yashaswini award.

Raveendra Joshi, president of the association and president of All India Federation of Master Printers, New Delhi, chaired the programme and Mukta Tilak, mayor of Pune was the chief guest.

In his speech, Joshi informed about the various activities PPOA would be conducting in the future. That includes international conferences, a mall for literature and printing, a library for printing and print technology, exhibitions, and health camps, among others.

He called upon each member of the association to donate Rs 10,000 towards these initiatives. He also requested Tilak to help the association through municipal schemes.

Tilak congratulated the association on completion of 100 years and appreciated the felicitation of women printers. A lucky draw was organised on this occasion and three lucky printers received a gold coin each. Four members of the association, who completed 75 years of age, were also felicitated.

Apart from that, students from standard X and standard XII, who had secured more than 75% marks in the board exams, were felicitated. Students who topped their exams in printing and print technology were awarded with scholarships worth Rs 5,000 each.

The event ended with a “Corporate Kirtan” presented by Sameer Limaye. The renditions were based on “Dasbodh” written by Swami Ramdas.
