One arrested for falsely leaking question paper

The authorities have reported that a case involving alleged leak of the Class 10 Mathematics-1 and Mathematics-2 question papers of the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) appears to be false. Police investigations have revealed that the papers were, in fact, never leaked; rather, this entire scheme was fabricated solely to extort money from students.

A case regarding this matter has been registered at the Shivajinagar Police Station.

The police have arrested Chaitanya Vinod Shende (18, a resident of Chandrapur). The accused had created a group on Telegram and claimed that he could provide the Class 10 Mathematics question papers in advance.

One day before the examination, a password-protected PDF file would be uploaded to Telegram. Following this, messages were posted within the relevant group, enticing students with the offer to provide the question papers for a sum of INR 600, thereby soliciting payments from them.

The investigation revealed that immediately after some students transferred the money, the accused would block them. Subsequently — after the examination had concluded — the accused would obtain the actual question paper and replace the file previously uploaded to Telegram with the authentic one. Since the timestamp on the file continued to display the original, earlier upload time, this created the illusion that the question paper had been uploaded before the examination had even begun.

Based on technical analysis and investigation, the Shivajinagar Police arrested the accused in the Chandrapur district. The police successfully tracked down the accused by investigating a QR code that had been shared on the Telegram group.

The accused had created a group on Telegram under the name "Maharashtra State Board 2026." Through this group, he would engage in chats and lure students with the promise of providing Board examination question papers. To obtain the papers, students were instructed to scan a QR code and transfer money.

The police obtained technical data by corresponding with Telegram via email. Based on this information, the accused's mobile number and location were pinpointed. The investigation revealed that the accused resides in the Jatpura Ward area of Chandrapur district.
