It started with two Zhongke (ZK-660C) rigid box manufacturing machines, and is producing half-a-million rigid boxes per month. Both the installed machines can make 30 boxes per minute. “We have ordered two additional Zhongke fully automatic machines and those will be delivered within a month or so. The newer models are faster and can produce 35 boxes per minute. Once these are installed, we will have the capacity to produce more than 1.5 million boxes per month,” Goel said.

Packmaax India is a partnership venture between Sumit Goel and Niketan Agarwal. Sumit is responsible for business planning and development and Niketan is responsible for production.

“Along with the fully automatic lines, the company will also be installing a few customised machines to produce specialised high quality luxury boxes,” Goel added.

Packmaax is major supplier to Haldiram’s and have plans to cater all big brands. “Along with sweets and food market, we are also looking at electronic packaging market, especially for mobile phones,” he said.

Goel said foods and confectionery is a huge and unorganised market in India with few packaging service provides, and Packmaax wants to leverage the situation. For this, it has built the production facility dust-free, and closely following the rules and regulations for food packaging.

To achieve this, Goel said, the company will have the entire print production setup ready by May 2019. They already have installed high speed dry lamination machine from Zhongke India. They plan to add flute laminator and folder gluer as well. Around 70 people work at Packmaax India’s 35,000-sqft facility.

On choosing Zhongke, Goel explained, “For capital equipment, after-sales service is the key. In the case of Zhongke, Mr Yu, the owner of Zhongke, is directly involved in R&D and production of machines. So, the technology and metallurgy of the machine is better than other players in the market. I visited Zhongke’s customers in China and found that high quality rigid boxes for most of major mobile brands are being produced on Zhongke machines.”

Other reasons were accuracy and stability of the machine. “Another plus point is Zhongke India has a very strong technical support and in-house inventory for spare parts, which reduces downtime drastically,” he added.

Rohit Rajpal, CEO, Zhongke India said that the Indian market is full of opportunities and that’s the reason new people are coming to the industry. “The demand now is for the smart packaging. Packaging should be attractive yet functional and cost effective. Zhongke has full range of products to cater the market demand, especially for rigid box manufacturing. We have installed 20 rigid box-making machines at Replika Packaging in Kundli. Such kind of investments and installations show confidence of our customers on our products and services” he said.
