Nice Prints, which specialises in pharmaceutical packaging, has installed a Bobst Visionfold 80 A2 with Accubraille to enhance efficiency and meet international compliance standards, particularly for the European market where Braille embossing is mandatory.
Dayananda Nayak, managing partner of Nice Prints, said the company had previously used a two-step process involving die-cutting for Braille embossing and cutting separately.
“This was time-consuming and led to higher costs,” he said. “With the Visionfold 80 A2 and Accubraille, we can now emboss Braille and perform folding-glueing in a single pass, significantly reducing setup time and improving consistency.”
Installed six months ago, the folder-gluer has helped standardise Braille embossing from the first carton to the last, with zero variation. “Our clients are happy with the improved quality and faster turnaround,” Nayak added.
The Visionfold 80 A2 is a versatile machine capable of handling carton board, semi-rigid plastics, corrugated board and heavy solid board. It offers flexibility in box design with multiple-fold packaging, and options for left, right or simultaneous folding. Its 180-degrees pre-breaking feature, coupled with a highly stable folding process, ensures precise glueing and consistent quality even at high speeds.
With short makereadies and quick changeovers, the machine maximises uptime and reduces carton waste. According to Nayak, Bobst provided a week of training, and the operators quickly adapted. Nice Prints has also added an automatic paper banding machine to complement the post- glueing stage, further boosting productivity.
“This investment has not only improved quality and speed but also enhanced our ability to meet urgent delivery demands,” said Nayak. “It’s a step forward in our commitment to innovation in pharma packaging.”
Founded in 2001 by three partners, all with diplomas in printing technology. Nice Prints began with a focus on pharmaceutical cartons and leaflets. After two partners retired in 2012, Nayak and his wife continued to grow the business, which today employs 125 people and supplies to leading pharmaceutical companies in India and across the globe.
