MMS Lifetime Award for Line O Matic's Uday Patel

Uday Patel, founder and chairman, Line O Matic was conferred with the Lifetime Achievement Award 2019 by the Mumbai Mudrak Sangh (MMS) at a glittering ceremony at the Sahara Star in Mumbai.

Gautam Thakur, chairman, Saraswat Co-operative Bank, and the chief guest for the event, handed over the Award to Patel, said, "The real take away from this event should be that there should be a focused strategy for development like Uday Patel has shown with his company Line O Matic."

Earlier Amrut Shah of Sundaram Books, said, "Not from a book manufacturer's point of view, not from a book printer's view, but Uday Patel deserves the Life Time Achievement award because of the enormous contribution to 25-crore students in India." Uday Patel, a man of few words, delivered a short speech in which he said, "thank you."

On the occasion of Printers’ Day Celebrations, MMS felicitates a stalwart of the industry with the Lifetime Achievement Award. Uday Patel, founder-owner of Line O Matic received the Award because of his ability to "constantly evolve, develop and innovate." Today the Ahmedabad-based manufacturer has more than 3,000 installations in 40 countries in the exercise notebook machinery market - with 90 per cent market share in India.

Earlier during the day, the MMS hosted the third edition of the Roundtable – Power Lunch at the MMS Roundtable. More than 100 printers were part of this unique knowledge-sharing confabulation.

Tushar Dhote said, "This year there were eight roundtables, each pertaining to a particular vertical of print – digital print, POS, books & catalogues, luxury packaging, labels, paper bags, retrofit and finally digital inkjet. We called each roundtable as Centres of Competence (CoC) and our theme was Innovation."

There were eight to ten members at each table; The Technical Expert, printer members plus the sponsor-vendor. The discussions were about trends and technologies. As Dhote said, "The roundtable hosted discussions boosted partnerships and encouraged the use of future technology to develop new products and shopfloor experiences, plus enhance opportunities across the breadth of India." The roundtable discussion concluded with a panel discussion in which eight of the print experts were engaged in an hour-long Q&A with Ramu Ramanathan of PrintWeek India.
