Mblem Digital started its business with manual typesetting in 1996 then progressed into DTP and eventually opted into digital printing business in 1998 where in the company got the first refurbished digital machine in Pune. “This was the time when there was a boom for digital prints that used to sell at Rs 80 a copy,” recollects Charu, one of the directors at the firm.

Mblem Digital is managed by three brothers.

The core business for Mblem still remains wide-format printing, which it opted for in 2002. Its current setup includes three solvent machines, two from Mutoh and one from Vutek and one Mutoh eco-solvent machine. The overall production in wide-format will be around 20,00 sq/ft.

To cater to the short-format jobs of its wide-format clients, Mblem has opted for the Pro 5100S from Ricoh, the firm’s first short-run production printing machine. “We always had a multi-functional digital machine in our premises to cater to our clients’ short-run jobs. But gradually we started facing quality issues. Hence we decided to go for a production machine.”

With the current Ricoh installation, Charu feels that his volumes have doubled. Now Mblem churns out around 1500-2000 prints a day. Their typical digital work involves printing of brochures, customised calendars, greeting cards, visiting cards etc.
