This is the second strategic investment in ManipalTech by a global print major after LEGO SpA Italy partnered in 2006.

Under this agreement, Quad/Graphics has purchased a minority interest in ManipalTech to strengthen the latter’s value offerings for customers in high growth industry verticals that include publishing, banking, financial services, insurance, telecommunications, education, consumer goods, retail, aviation, logistics and the government.

ManipalTech’s partnership with European and American print leaders is unique and unprecedented for the Indian print and print services industry. “As we move forward in our journey towards becoming a Rs 1,500 Cr technology and print service provider, Quad/Graphics’ investment will further fuel our growth initiatives, enhance our capabilities and strengthen our focus on developing solutions that proactively addresses customers' needs, value requirements and pain points,” said Gautham Pai, the managing director of ManipalTech.

ManipalTech (www.ManipalTechnologies.com) is part of the diversified Manipal Group with GTO of $1200 million having well established businesses in media, education, health-care, home fragrance, power, infrastructure, consumer electronics, besides print solutions.

Established in 1941as the back office for India’s Syndicate Bank, ManipalTech registered rapid growth to quickly establish itself as the preferred outsourced service partner to the entire Indian banking industry. Today ManipalTech and its subsidiaries provide business solutions for facilitating secure transactions as well as marketing, branding and communications products for customers in multiple industries.

Quad/Graphics headquartered in Sussex, has more than 50 print-production facilities as well as other support locations throughout North America, Latin America and Europe. The company is redefining the power of print in today’s multimedia world by helping its clients use print as the foundation of multichannel communications strategies to drive their top-line revenues.

“This investment expands our global presence, giving us a strong foothold in an emerging market with a large and growing middle class that is attractive to marketers and publishers,” said Joel Quadracci, chairman, and president & CEO of Quad/Graphics. “We are proud to partner with a reputable, forward-thinking company like ManipalTech, which shares our commitment to advancing the effectiveness of print in a multichannel media world.”

Commenting on this strategic partnership, Giulio Olivotto, the director, ManipalTech and managing director of LEGO SpA Italy said, “the key to success of JV partnerships is the alignment of strategic interests, ability to maintain the alignment over a significant period of time, and making sure the partners contribute to those strategic interests. Built on strong foundations of trust and transparency, our partnership with ManipalTech has succeeded on all these counts and more. The vision, thinking and approach to business of Quad/Graphics are in sync with ours and this new alliance we look forward to a grand future.”
