Labelexpo Europe 2017: SPGPrints’ Labelexpo highlight is Rotalen 7511 laser engraver
The start product from Netherlands-based SPGPrints’ at the show is the new Rotalen 7511 laser engraver. This is a direct CO2 laser engraving system for imaging rotary screens with resolutions up to 5080 dpi in one fully digital step, without film, chemicals or water.

Hank Guitjens, commercial manager label printing, SPGPrints, said, “The Rotalen 7511 is suitable for engraving the 405 mesh, the finest in the SPGPrints RotaMesh rotary screen programme, for printing small text, down to 4-point size, and fine oriental text. Therefore it provides a fast pre-press solution for applications where more information on a label is needed. The engraving cycles can be as short as 30 minutes per screen, ensuring a smooth-running workflow is maintained when high volumes and tight lead times are required.”
SPGPrints will present a new addition to the RotaMesh rotary screen programme, RSI rotary screen integration printing modules and a multi-process digital imaging system. It has widened its premium decorative and security options for labels and packaging with the introduction of RotaMesh glitter screen, a nickel rotary screen, suitable for glitter, lustre, shimmer and optically variable effects.
“Particles for exclusive effects require wide diameters, typically of approximately 70µm, to enable reflectivity that makes their functionality possible,” added Guitjens.
The other highlights from SPGPrints include Varilex hybrid CTP digital processor for flexo, dry-offset, screen and letterpress imaging and RotaPlate Dev&Dry, a new device which automatically develops and dries all types of screens, from Braille to fine text, in one workflow.
Guitjens said, “Rotary screen printing is growing in demand in India and label printers are looking for reliable solutions to deliver in terms of both volume and quality.”
The company will also provide a video preview of its Pike 700 UV inkjet hybrid press.
