Labelexpo 2023: Prakash Printers orders Lombardi Invicta, first in Asia

The Lombardi Invicta I2 press is Prakash Printers & Coaters fifth Lombardi flexo press, and is the first in Asia. The over four-decade-old company converts around 10-lakh sq/m filmic, PVC shrink, PP plus, chromo, and metallic substrates. Besides the Lombardi presses,  the company also has two Multitec flexo presses.

Explaining his company’s move from labels to flexible and other applications, Prakash Shivlani, director at Prakash, who was accompanied by his brother, Mayur, while speaking to PrintWeek, said with more and more players coming into the label business, the number of jobs are increasing. “Flexible packaging in comparison to labels, is a much bigger market, and we would like to diversify into an area where there is demand for packaging is increasing. With the Synchroline 530 press we were already doing unsupported pouches. The bigger width will help us deliver the packaging our customers need.”

The  Invicta i2 can print plastic films for roll-fed, shrink and stretch applications and multi-substrates, aluminum and light carton. The press is available in three sizes – 750mm, 850mm, and 1,100 mm.

“Prakash Printers & Coaters is Vinsak and Lombardi’s oldest customer and has regularly invested in Lombardi presses. It will increase their productivity to produce more jobs and flexibility to print from 12-micron films to 600-micron boards” said Ranesh Bajaj, director at Vinsak. “We had seen this label printer trend growing eight years ago. Self-adhesive is  getting to crowded and complicated.”

Interestingly, Prakash manufactures its labelstock.

Lombardi has sold three Invicta i2 presses, and overall over 500 presses worldwide.
