Speaking to PrintWeek/WhatPackaging?, GP Pathak, vice-president at UFlex, said that the company would be producing security labels, holograms, and multicolour barcodes, in its lineup, which also includes packaging products. “We aim to protect the labels and packaging from counterfeiting.”

UFlex, Pathak said, will also invest in narrow-web and wide-web presses with a width of up to 1,200mm. “This kit will be installed in Noida in the division where we produce holograms. The next Vinsak UASR kit will be installed in the packaging division where the wide-web investment is planned.”

Ranesh Bajaj, director of Vinsak group, said that this agreement with UFlex is strategic, where his group will be developing solutions for the company’s security products in the wide-web range. “This is the first in the series of installations as we go ahead with our association,” he said.

Explaining the features of the USAR’s inkjet unit, Bajaj said that the kit could utilise either water-based or UV-cured drop-on-demand printheads with resolutions up to 1,200-dpi. “At present, the machine, available in 350, 450 and 550-mm widths, features a high-build option with up to 200 microns achieved by jetting with varnish and a range of digital foiling options.”

Bajaj added, “The kit is useful for businesses that want to add security features to its products such as non-cloneable codes, generic and proprietary 2D bar codes and unique graphical elements on all kinds of tax stamps, security labels and tamper-evident labels.”
