Speaking to PrintWeek India, Rushil Shah, managing director, Meech Shavotech, said, “All printers face static and dust issues during production. This causes high amount of rejection. The operators often forget to make adjustment of the bar and are not aware if the bar is performing well. That is what the smart control will monitor and make adjustments as per the requirement which will make their life easy.”

Shavo’s portfolio comprises of contact and non-contact web cleaning solutions. The web cleaning systems ensure that the web is statically neutral and completely clean, as Shah said, “The primary impact is on quality of print output and hence productivity. That’s why web cleaners are installed at the beginning of the press.”

“In the contact systems, there are rubber rollers picking up the dirt and contamination on the web. For complex substrates, it is preferred to use non contact systems where fluid dynamic technologies are used to break the boundary layer on the web and then vacuum and suction system cleans up the contamination without touching the web,” added Shah.

Shavo also supplies a wide range of ionising bars that can be used to eliminate static charge on slitters, rewinders, unwinders and various stations.

Shah said, “In the last five years, the adoption of static elimination equipment has grown in India. However, static eliminators are still considered as an accessory and not a standard feature on the machine. We also see increasing interest levels in the web cleaning segment. That’s one of the reasons we feel there’s a great opportunity.”

Shavo’s clientele include Avery Dennison, 3M, Webtech Labels, SMI Coated Products, Skanem Interlabels, Multitech, Nilpeter, Art O Print and Mudrika Labels, among others.
