New Delhi-based Any Graphics and Hyderabad-based Pragati Pack were judged as the joint winners in this category.

Any Graphics produced the Aloe Vera labels for Mirambika; Leaf label for Prime Houseware; Jordan label for Jordon Label; and the Senate label for Tilak Nagar Industries.

The labels were printed on a six-colour plus inline coater, fully loaded interdeck UV, letterpress printing machine. Pre-press was done through Esko workflow ripped through an Esko Merge/Expose software and blocks made of Esko 2120 CTP. Post-press included die-cut online on the letter press printing machine and Zund cutting plotter with an Eye-cut camera for scanning and cutting the labels with accuracy. Metallised polyester film with a clear release liner, clear PVC film, Bopp film, and 250 micron polycarbonate substrates were put to use.

The special features on Jordon label came in for special praise. The “natural feel” of the flower on the label was evident, according to the judges. Any Graphics says, the individual grains of petals and drops have been treated and distinguished separately. Nothing is embossed on this label, the chrome effect, halftone and the embossing features are all done using screen printing process.

The 25-year old Any Graphic is an ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 and one of the leading printing and packaging companies in India. A one-stop solution provider, Any Graphics offers a range of products: mono cartons, self adhesive labels, dome stickers, graphics, panel overlays, warranty seals, commercial print, blister cards and publicity.

In this category, Pragati Pack sent in its Nupal Remedies’ Kamilari Liver Supplement label, Haldiram’s Red Chilli Pickle label, Manson’s Extracts’ Indulekha Coconut Milk Shampoo label and Krishna Chigurupati’s Krsma Estates – Cabernet Sauvignon label.

All the labels were produced on the eight-colour full UV MPS EC 330 press using Dupont plates outputted on Esko CDI HD Flexo platesetter. The post-press included texture and gloss effect, emboss UV on brand and image, holographic UV and die-cut to shape and size. PP White paper and metalised papers were put to use.

The judges liked the combination of spot holography along with the raised UV in the branding area, which one of the judges said, “really lifts the label”. According to Pragati Pack, the company used spot holographic effect on the background and an embossed UV process on the branding to achieve the enhanced appeal.

Pragati Pack is a sister company of Pragati Offset and Pragati Flexo. In January 2007, Pragati kickstarted its label project with the installation of an eight-colour MPS EF 410 and a Nilpeter narrow-web flexo press. In February last year, the company installed a brand new Steinemann Lotus 102SF solvent-free lamination machine, which complemented its latest addition to the press armoury, an MPS flexo 330mm eight-colour press, the first installation in India.
