Amit Vasudeva, director, Kay Art Printers, said, “Our production has increased since we shifted our print production from Delhi to Kundli, Sonipat in 2019. Folding-gluing became a bottleneck for us. We were using an India-made folder-gluer but it was not sufficient to meet the present demand. So, we searched for options and found DGM appropriate for our requirements. I knew Puneet Aggarwal of DGM for many years.”

After the investment, Vasudeva said, the company’s production of lock-bottom cartons has increased from 1-1.25 lakh to more than 2.5 lakh cartons in a 12-hour shift, and side-pasting cartons from 4 to 12 lakh again in a 12-hour shift.

“The folder-gluer is equipped with a flipper ejector, which is important for pharma production. Three-ply also can be done on the folder-gluer, which we used to do manually before the installation. It reduces our wastage,” Vasudeva said.

In 2019, the company shifted its facility from Delhi to Kundli to an 18,000-sqft working area. The reasons for the shift were the need for more space and an upgraded production facility.

“In 2018, we earned Rs nine-crore of turnover. This year, we will be touching Rs 20-crore,” he added.

Established in 1972, Kay Art Printers does not have any plan for diversification. “We are a pharma-dedicated company and diversification will reduce our focus, which is not good. Focusing on a single segment is good. We have increased our offerings. Now we are producing pack inserts and outserts with folding cartons,” Vasudeva said, adding, “We are a debt-free company and are happy with conventional printing and solid colours.”
