With the growing demand for innovation in packaging design and prototyping, the Kongsberg X20 will enable students to work with a wide range of materials, including corrugated boards, paperboards, labels, and flexible packaging substrates. The system allows precise digital cutting, creasing, and sample production, helping students transform their packaging concepts into real prototypes.

The installation bridges the gap between academic learning and real-world industrial applications. Students will now gain practical experience in packaging development workflows, including structural design validation, mock-up production, and short-run packaging samples.

By integrating such cutting-edge technology into its infrastructure, IIP continues to equip the next generation of packaging professionals with the tools and skills required by the modern packaging industry. The Kongsberg X20 will play a key role in helping students understand digital finishing processes while encouraging creativity, innovation, and practical learning. This initiative reflects IIP’s vision of nurturing industry-ready talent and strengthening the connection between education and the evolving packaging ecosystem.

Sam Patel, CEO and managing director at Arrow Digital, said, “We are proud to support the Indian Institute of Packaging in strengthening its educational infrastructure with the installation of the Kongsberg X20 digital cutting table. At Arrow Digital, we strongly believe that the future of the printing and packaging industry lies in empowering students with access to the latest technologies. By providing hands-on exposure to advanced digital finishing solutions, students gain practical insights into modern packaging design, prototyping, and production workflows.”

Built on a rock-solid steel tabletop construction inspired by aerospace technology, the system delivers long-term stability and accuracy even under demanding workloads. The Kongsberg X20 is bundled with powerful AristosCAD packaging design software, enabling students at IIP to experience a complete digital packaging workflow. AristosCAD is widely used in the packaging industry for structural design, prototyping, and sample development. With this integrated solution, students can design packaging structures digitally and directly produce precise samples on the Kongsberg X20 cutting table.

This combination allows students to understand the entire process—from packaging design and structural development to physical prototyping, providing valuable hands-on experience with the same tools used by professionals in the global packaging industry.
