IIP announces PacMachine awards winners

The Indian Institute of Packaging (IIP) has announced the PacMachine Awards 2014-15. Among the 11 winners are Mondelez india, Dr Reddy’s Laboratories, Parle Global Technologies, and Ace Industries.

Introduced in 1992, PacMachine Awards recognises the achievements of packaging machinery sector and promotes their efforts.

The packaging machinery sector, comprising of packaging converting machines, product packaging machines, and allied equipments, have adopted modern technology and are even exported to developed economies of the world.

Dr NC Saha, a member of the jury and director of IIP, said, “Many of the Indian packaging machinery manufacturers are well known for producing some sophisticated machineries. Specific features that attract the overseas buyer to the Indian market are flexibility in manufacturing and the price of equipment. While meeting the local industry demands to a great extent, the value of Indian packaging machinery export is also at a higher side.”

Besides Dr Saha, the members of jury were PK Datta, director of Electronic Regional Test Laboratory (ERTL), Dr BE Narkhede, department of production and industrial engineering, Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute (VJTI), Prof Seema Unnikrishnan, professor and dean (Academics), National Institute of Industrial Engineering (NITIE), and Prof Kannan Iyer, professor, mechanical engineering, IIT, Mumbai.

The awards distribution ceremony will be held on 10 October, 2015 at Hotel Renaissance in Mumbai, in concurrence with Indiapack 2015 and World Packaging Congress 2015.

"The awards will be presented to the winners in the presence of representatives of government bodies and overseas delegates at the glittering function,” said Shekhar Amberkar, assistant director, IIP. “And that’s what the PacMachine Awards are all about – promoting and encouraging excellence in packaging machinery and technology,” concluded Amberkar.
