To commemorate the anniversary, Gallus has lined up a string of activities. On 20 June 2023, the company will host a special lunch via cable car in the Swiss mountains for its guests. Gallus will also be opening a brand new Gallus Experience Centre at its facility in St Gallen, which the company said: “will shape the future of the label and narrow-web industry”.

Gallus Experience Days will be held from 21-24 June 2023. Gallus will also launch the Gallus One, a digital label press, running it live along with the hybrid Gallus Labelfire and the conventional Gallus Labelmaster.

“Throughout our history, Gallus’ people and technologies have contributed significantly to the global flexo industry and its economic progress,” said Samir Patkar, president at Heidelberg India, Gallus’ parent company. “Tomorrow’s anniversary celebration is an opportunity to celebrate Gallus’ innovations and achievements, extending a well-deserved gesture of appreciation to the stakeholders – Gallus’ people and customers, who continue to drive our success.”

Gallus’ journey began in 1923, when Ferdinand Ruesch, Gauger, laid the foundation for the Gallus Group with the formation of a small, well-structured business.

Speaking to PrintWeek during his visit to Labelexpo India 2022, Ferdinand Rüesch of Gallus said that Gallus recognised the trend from letterpress to flexo and the growth of UV Flexo early, and therefore, acquired Arsoma, an innovation leader in flexo press manufacturing way back in 1989 to get a foot in the door of the new trend the flexo technology. “The challenge for Gallus has been to make UV flexo printing and rotary screen printing compatible and productive. The challenge was to have all the different inks, UV flexo, and screen to be compatible with each other, so that you could print screen over UV flexo, etc. Step by step, the prices of UV inks came down. Only direct food labels stayed with water-based flexo. In India, Gallus customers switched quickly to UV flexo.”

Patkar said, during the Gallus Experience Days, customers, marketers, and partners will discover the new Gallus Experience Centre, a hub for creativity, collaboration and innovation. “A place where users can exchange ideas, gain new skills and experience the latest technologies and solutions.”
