Fifth edition of CAPIndia concludes

The fifth edition of CAPIndia concluded at Bombay Exhibition Centre in Mumbai on 4 December 2019. The exhibition hosted over 400 manufacturers and exporters.

Sribash Dasmohapatra, executive director, Plexconcil, said, “Tamil Nadu state had a pavilion for all its MSMEs and first time exporters. There was substantial representation from Africa, which is the sunrise destination for plastics. Cambodia sent a delegation to India for the first time ever. Chemicals witnessed action in beauty and cosmetic segment. United Nations SDG goals of ‘housing for all’ will give a fillip to construction and building material from India. Forest products from India will now be sourced directly rather than through other intermediaries.”

The show was organised by Plexconcil, Chemexcil, Capexil and Shefexil, under the aegis of Department of Commerce, Union Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India. The show was supported by the Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals, Government of India.

It was inaugurated by Meeta Rajivlochan of DGFT, Mumbai, Ravish Kamath of Plexconcil, Ajay Kadakia of Chemexcil, R Veeramani, of Capexil and Ashvin Nayak of Shefexil.

Meeta Rajivlochan, IAS, additional DGFT, Mumbai, said, "Plastics sector has grown up by over 16% on FY'19, from over USD 15mn to USD 19mn. However, there is lot of scope to grow our exports further. India has the largest base of scientific and IT qualified professionals, but the IT solutions are offered to international countries. The MSME sector, which employs over 445 mn workforce, is over 72% of working population in India. The IT solutions, Internet of Things and Artificial Intelligence are yet to be implemented in its full scale in the MSME sector."

The three-day event also comprised of reverse buyer-seller meets for MSME exporters, which facilitated interactions with over 400 international buyers from 48 countries. The international buyers included representatives from South Africa, Russia, Ukraine, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Australia, and New Zealand, among others.
