Environmental and green issues will play a major part in the 2012 event, which takes place from 21 – 24 February in Barcelona, Spain.

Taking place under the Planet Friendly Printing Programme banner, the sustainability element of the show forms part of Fespa's Explore Conference.

Comprising a series of free half-day conference and workshop sessions, it will cover topics such as business building, technology, sustainability, digital signage and printed electronics.

The centrepiece of the sustainability element is a two-day conference, taking place over the 21-22 February, covering 'how' and 'why' to be green.

Talks will include promoting the sustainability of print media and the importance of sustainability in print purchasing to issues, such as how to achieve FSC certification.

According to MacOwan, the friendly printing programme is the continuation of the work Fespa has been doing in the area since 2004.

He said: "In Barcelona, we are running a two-day conference, with workshops and advice centres, that will inform visitors on a wide range of sustainability issues.

"Whether you are developing your sustainability programme or taking the first formal steps, this part of Fespa 2012 is a good place to start."
