The key speakers for the two days include: Shobha Viswanath, the publishing director of Karadi Tales; Praba Ram, writer and founder of children's book blog Saffron Tree; Pratheek Thomas, the founder of Manta Ray; D Desmond Kharmawphlang, the head, departmentof cultural and creative studies, NEHU; Venetia Ansell, the founder of Rasala Books and others.

According to Leonard Fernandes of Cinnamon Teal and organiser of the conference, "Publishing Next was conceptualised to provide a free and uninhibited platform that would allow the future of books to be discussed and deliberated."

The first edition was held in September 2011 during which stakeholders of the publishing industry brought before an eager audience the issues facing the industry – some that were obvious and stared in the face, like the advent of digital books and social media marketing and others whose impact was more difficult to understand, like that of the proposed copyright amendments and the changing landscape of translated literature in India.

In its second edition the conference will push the envelope a bit further by exploring issues that do not hog the headlines yet must be effectively addressed to ensure that a vibrant publishing industry is developed and sustained. It will depart from its earlier format to increase the level of interaction between participants and ensure that the future of publishing is better explained to an eager audience. To that end, more workshops, technology-sharing sessions and research papers will be presented. The idea behind the new format is to lift the veil off the future of publishing and make it more accessible to all its stakeholders.
