Durst and Koenig & Bauer join forces to boost digital print production

Durst and Koenig & Bauer have entered into a 50-50 joint venture for the development and marketing of single-pass digital printing systems for folding carton and carton board corrugated industry.

Christoph Gamper, chief executive officer, Durst Group, said, “Both companies are similar in its culture and strategic direction. Combining our strengths will drive digitalisation in the packaging industry." 

Claus Bolza-Schünemann, chief executive officer, Koenig & Bauer, said, “For folding carton printing, the modular concept of the VariJET enables the combination of digital inkjet printing with offset printing and inline finishing options. Durst’s existing know-how and experience with inkjet technology will help us achieve these goals."

The new partner company is set to be based in Germany and it will also manage the service and ink business in close cooperation with the global network of both companies.
